I´ve had the pleasure to create large parts of the factory presets for MFM2,
this incredible delay plugin from u-he.
There are 111 presets from me for the original release as well as 120 additional
creations made shortly after the release.

I made a short demo lasting only a few seconds to show a few things that can be done using MFM2.

No instance of MFM2 was used.

This is the pure four track version of the demo, no effects were used at all,
it´s just the drums from Microtonic and bass, mallets and strings from Zebra2.

On the following six wet versions the mix of the four tracks is kept unchanged,
the only differences to the dry version are several instances of MFM2
used as insert effect on the single tracks and the sum.
The used MFM2 patches are explained in detail below for every version.
Whenever there´s more than one instance of MFM2 used on a single track or the sum,
the instances are loaded in a serial configuration.

Tip: Download all versions of the demo and play them one after another in one pass.
Structure of explanations: (preset-category) presetname - what does it do on the track

 MFM2 LFO

Eleven instances of MFM2 were used.

drums:

(abuse) BB bass pressure - adds some deep pressure to the drums
(rooms) phone booth - places them inside a very small booth
(atmospheric) free-style - finally a real delay to give it a good groove

bass:

(abuse) BB bass pressure - well, to boost the low frequencies of the bass
(classic delay) choke - just a classic delay playing 8ths

mallets:

(classic delay) short line - nice short stereo delay to get a better stereo picture for the mallets
(combs) light glitter - unobtrusive but beautiful comb delay

strings:

(abuse) PH phalanx - moving phaser effect to bring some live to the strings
(sound-fx) marbles 4th - interesting, lively quarter delays

mix:

(abuse) VD stereotyped - a simple stereo enhancer for the sum to get a wider stereo picture
(sound-fx) injection - classic delays with a little extra - by hitting a note
you can start a one-shot mseg which will create a break by instantly muting the dry signal
and then slowly bringing it back whilst also constantly changing the delay time of the first delay line
- that´s what happens right at the start and another time a little later into the track

MFM2 matrix

Nine instances of MFM2 were used.

drums:

(abuse) DS ruins - for some old-fashioned filtered distortion applying a bit of dirt on the drums
(combs) bouncing edges - a comb delay that creates the feeling of a reflective space,
gives the drums a good surrounding

bass:

(abuse) DS broken signs - light phaser and heavy distortion effect
(classic delay) midlife - the bass gets bandpass filtered and then a short delay is applied

mallets:

(abuse) SB grumpy old man - effect to add some dirty overdrive to the mallets
(abuse) SB worn out - adds a nice, jiggling chorus effect to the overdriven sound

strings:

(sound-fx) sharp blade - effect that creates a phasing, metal scraping tone,
gives the strings an interesting, metallic touch
(abuse) GT enemy gates - this trance gate effect makes the strings stutter rhythmically

mix:

(abuse) VD vodo 01 - a voice doubler effect, sounds almost like a chorus on the sum

Seven instances of MFM2 were used.

drums:

(abuse) CH nautilus - wobbly chorus effect and compression of the drum signal

bass:

(combs) drum liquid - creates a heavily compressed bass signal with a very short comb delay
and lfo-modulated filters for that wah wah effect

mallets:

(dub-feed) paradise dub - classic dub style delay to fill the space between the notes
(combs) solaris - a simple comb delay on top of the dub-delay

strings:

(abuse) SB in the line - bandpass filters with phaser and overdrive to get an aging sound for the strings
(rooms) glaciers - small, chorusing room simulation creating some interesting tonal side-effects

mix:

(abuse) SB brainwave - an effect to thicken the signal,
compresses and filters the sum and adds a light phaser effect

 MFM2 routing

Six instances of MFM2 were used.

drums:

(rooms) jerrycan - places the drums inside a can
(dub-feed) dubya - bandpass filtered dub delay makes the canned drums groovy

bass:

(rooms) cellar door - this small resonant room simulation adds a nice tonal touch to the bass

mallets:

(combs) groove comb 02 - this comb delay creates its own groove by being controlled via a mseg,
what comes out is some sort of almost robotic sound when used on the mallets

strings:

(abuse) GT filter gate - effect preset, a slow filter-sweep and some fast gating to chop the strings

mix:

(rooms) reverbar - reverb effect (with pre-delay) applied to the sum

Five instances of MFM2 were used.

drums:

(abuse) XM destronimator - mangles the sound completely by randomly slowing down and speeding up
the playback of the drums, creates a creative, chaotic mess

bass:

(classic delay) counter offensive - lfo modulated, bandpass filtered feedback
creates a groovy bass rhythm

mallets:

(sound-fx) computer land 01 - random lfo modulates the lowpass filters
which are applied on the feedback,
that creates a randomly filtered sound with quick filter jumps

strings:

(sound-fx) digital age - the strings get a phasing sound with a digital glitch
(which is caused by the mseg modulating delay time) that occurs every bar and has its own delay

mix:

(combs) snow cover - the filtered comb delay creates a reverb-like impression when used on the sum

MFM2 mseg

Nine instances of MFM2 were used.

drums:

(combs) groove comb 01 - a classic, distinctive comb delay which also grooves because
it´s controlled by a mseg

bass:

(abuse) PH gentle phaser - a slow, mild phaser effect
(classic delay) strong bound - a filtered stereo delay (with initial pre-delay) playing quartes and halfs

mallets:

(sound-fx) more feedback machine - very short delay times create a room sound
which gets distorted with randomly varying amounts, this creates an interesting atmosphere
(dub-feed) jungle jock - a dub-delay with some additional overdrive

strings:

(sound-fx) smear campaign - a short delay with fast lfo-modulated delay time gets routed
to some more classic delay, creates a whirling sound
which is especially good for otherwise too static pads
(classic delay) channel swap - classic stereo quarter delay, a slow lfo modulates filters and panning
so that the channels get swapped around constantly

mix:

(classic delay) thin feather 02 - very short delays with phaser effect
accentuate high frequencies of the mix
(abuse) XM buffy glitch 01 - a buffer loop player acting on the sum, the audio plays normal
until you press a note, then the current audio is looped indefinitely until you release the key,
the size of the loop is determined by the note you hit;
throughout the track some random notes were played to create that stuttering interruptions of the mix
